Multimedia storyteller with a zest for building relationships, a writer, editor, and videographer fluent in corporate communications, print, online, television and social media with extensive experience in web, print and video production/design, marketing, promotions, public/business/community/talent relations as well as project/product/brand/team management.

Experience

Communications Manager, Step Up For Students, 2016-2019

Created, posted, and shared K-12 education stories and videos of students, parents, faculty, and schools to highlight company messaging. Discovered and developed 50 advocates to support Step Up legislative goals and collaborated with other departments and external nonprofits to support advocates in attending and speaking at donor and political events. Worked with advocates to write speeches for events, opinion pieces, and letters submitted to local media. Developed a network of hundreds of administrators, parents, students, and alumni to generate story leads.

Instructional Technology Specialist, Step Up For Students, 2014-2016

Subject matter expert on Step Up's Teaching and Learning Exchange online student information system (TLE). Responsible for developing TLE resource material – online and print user guide documentation, live and recorded webinars, instructional videos and fliers. Led a team responsible for TLE implementation planning and training across the state of Florida. Responsible for supporting schools in using the TLE along with Step Up's Office of Student Learning coordinators. Collaborated with IT department to manage help desk requests from schools and coordinators. Created and managed focus group of school administrators, created surveys for TLE prototypes and presented analysis of data from the results. Shot, edited and produced marketing, testimonial, spotlight and instructional videos for the Office of Student learning as well as monthly in-house newsletter videos from Step Up's president.

Writer/editor for ESPN.com, 2011-2014

Covered Southeastern Conference football and recruiting with a focus on University of Florida athletics. Wrote news and feature stories and blogs. Shot and produced video. Managed an active social media presence. Formerly ran daily planning and operations of ESPN.com's Florida Gator sports site. Managed staff of two other writers covering UF sports and high school recruiting. Manage daily blog network posts covering college sports across ESPN.com. Organized and edited daily online and video content as well as event and breaking news coverage. Handled site maintenance and layout with placement of modules, blogs and headlines. Worked to highlight premium content and drive subscriptions for ESPN.com's Insider product. Communicated with national editors for planning, coverage and extended exposure.

Covered UF athletics beat daily for print and website. Responsible for video show, Twitter, message boards, management of correspondents, photos, videos and video production. Created and managed content for niche website called Recruits.Gatorsports.com

Online sports editor, The Gainesville Sun, 2005-2011

Managed Gatorsports.com and Gainesville.com/Sports (combined traffic of more than 9 million page views per month on average). Responsible for conceptualizing, creating and integrating multi-platform multimedia content, promotions and community initiatives. Led a group of senior editors, advertising, marketing and circulation managers in developing sports content-based initiatives. Oversaw award-winning sports department that combined 11 total staff writers and editors as well as numerous part-timers, stringers, bloggers, interns and volunteers. Supplemented coverage with my own stories, videos, photos and blogs. Created and managed social media presence. Managed team of web producers and team of volunteer community moderators. Took part in budgeting, writing, editing, web production, video production and editing, website metrics and analytics, employee training and administrative duties. Represented The Sun at annual APSE online regional meetings. Conceptualized and built site structure, navigation and all content elements for Gatorsports.com and Gainesville.com/Sports in 2007 redesign.

Integration producer, Fox Sports Network, 2001-2003

Responsible for creating multimedia content, cross-platform delivery and promotion. Acted as primary liaison between Fox Sports Net (25 FSN regional cable channels) and Foxsports.com. Oversaw and managed web presence of 14 FSN shows, including site creation and daily maintenance. Created website for FSN's flagship show, the “Best Damn Sports Show, Period” including project management of design/technology/production/marketing/sales/freelance teams. Worked with 12 veteran reporters on web content, including training for on-air broadcasts. Directed on-air talent for NHL highlights on national news updates that aired across 25 FSN channels. Covered 2002 NHL All-Star Game, shooting and editing video of player interviews.

Team leader, Foxsports.com, 2000-2001

Responsible for pro and college football and golf websites, including dynamic HTML production, creation of content, community and promotion. Supervised team of four web producers, three full-time national writers and two general assignment writers. Managed special projects from conceptualization to execution and daily maintenance. Led planning, design and production for team of web producers and writers on special section of college bowl coverage on strict deadline. Partnered with Playstation2’s “College Gamebreaker” video game to deliver video and statistics of a simulated national championship playoff tournament, with video and web promotion airing on Fox Sports Net’s “Hardcore Football” show.

News editor, Tampa Bay Online, 1998-2000

Oversaw content-sharing and cross-platform marketing/promotion between The Tampa Tribune, WFLA Newschannel 8 (NBC affiliate) and Tampa Bay Online. Produced sports, news, entertainment and community (bulletin boards, chat rooms and reporting of local scores) projects for an online network incorporating 14 websites with combined traffic of more than 7 million page views per month on average. Managed special projects from conceptualization to execution. Oversaw redesign of WFLA.com and its move to Tampa Bay Online publishing system. Contributed to testing and selection of content management publishing software. Managed third-party relationship with The Sports Network.
